The niche market of frozen embryo/frozen semen sales is missing a focused sales venue. Social media platforms tend to be inadequate due to un-targeted buyers and algorithms that do not necessarily reach the appropriate audience.
EquiCyte has extensive cross-referencing capabilities. Listings are sorted by breed and sub-breed. Coming soon: buyers will also be able to search by discipline. Some listers have included disciplines in the description of their listing. In the advanced search, you can type in the discipline you are searching for and the system will display all listings that include that discipline.
No. EquiCyte is strictly an online sales catalog providing a targeted audience for your frozen embryo/frozen semen. All interested buyers contact the owner directly. The EquiCyte business model is a pay-by-listing base, not a commission-driven, model. EquiCyte is solely a marketing sales platform.
While the ICSI procedure may have resulted in multiple frozen embryos from the same mare-stallion combination, EquiCyte encourages one (1) listing per genetic cross at a time. A frozen embryo and frozen semen are assets. Value retention of these assets is best achieved by controlling inventory.
Each paid listing is for one (1) year or until sold, whichever comes first.

While all procedures have inherent risks, the decision to engage ICSI technology in a breeding program is a discussion between the mare owner and his/her veterinarian.
As breeders ourselves, NOT trained in veterinarian science, EquiCyte sees a plethora of advantages in ICSI technology:
- Potential extended breeding life for an older broodmare.
- Banking embryos should the broodmare become infertile or pass away.
- Keeping a show mare on the show string instead of in the broodmare barn for extended periods.
- Insurance that a mare’s genetics are preserved should a tragedy occur.
- Creating a larger ROI for a broodmare.
- More efficient and cost-effective for the long-term breeding program.
